AIGA CLEVELAND — SPONSOR

“AIGA advances design as a professional craft, strategic advantage and vital cultural force. As the largest community of design advocates, we bring together practitioners, enthusiasts, and patrons to amplify the voice of design and create the vision for a collective future. We define global standards and ethical practices, guide design education, enhance professional development, and make powerful tools and resources accessible to all.”

AIGA (Associate Institute of Graphic Arts) Cleveland and CLE Flag Project have forged a dynamic partnership aimed at fostering inclusive representation and artist empowerment through a collaborative flag design competition. By joining forces, AIGA Cleveland brings its wealth of expertise in design advocacy and community engagement, while CLE Flag Project provides a platform dedicated to promoting civic pride and unity through the symbolism of a city flag. Together, we endeavor to cultivate an environment where diverse voices are heard and respected, ensuring that the resulting flag design authentically reflects the essence of Cleveland and the creative talent within its communities. This strategic alliance not only elevates the visibility of local artists but also underscores the significance of thoughtful design in fostering a sense of belonging and identity within the city.

NAVA — PROJECT ADVISOR

“The North American Vexillological Association is an international, non profit, scholarly organization dedicated to vexillology, the study of flags and their cultural, historical, political, and social significance. It is the largest association of its kind in the world. NAVA advances vexillology as a social science. It does not participate in the patriotic promotion of any particular flag.”

The North American Vexillological Association (NAVA) has extended their invaluable expertise and support to CLE Flag Project, offering guidance to steer the initiative in the right direction. While not formal partners, NAVA's involvement underscores their commitment to fostering effective flag design and promoting the principles of good flag-making. Leveraging their extensive knowledge in the field of vexillology, NAVA provides essential insights and recommendations to ensure that the CLE Flag Project develops a symbol that encapsulates the identity and aspirations of the community it represents. With NAVA's guidance, CLE Flag Project is poised to create a flag that resonates deeply with its constituents and stands as a proud emblem of unity and belonging.
